The Lung Association launches Loonies for Lungs!

Saskatoon. May 20 “ The Lung Association of Saskatchewan, in conjunction with 28 non- smoking Saskatoon restaurants, launches Loonies for Lungs.  During the month of May, vendors such as Fuddrucker's will invite patrons to support The Lung Association and improve life, one breath at a time, in Saskatchewan.

At 28 dining locations in the city, for a loonie, patrons are invited to purchase a card that endorses their commitment to respiratory health in Saskatchewan.  These colorful 5 X 8 cards are placed on display for viewing.   We have had a very positive response to this initiative from our clientele, says Fuddrucker's manager Ryan Bruce, and have already had to replenish our supply of cards.

Respiratory illness is the leading cause for hospitalization of children aged six and under and the second leading cause for hospital admissions in seniors.  We know that, one in every three people in Saskatchewan will be affected by lung disease at some point in their lives, says Brian Graham, President and CEO of The Lung Association. We all know family members, friends, or neighbors that have asthma, lung cancer, COPD, sleep apnea, or some other respiratory condition.

The Lung Association is Canada's oldest health charity, helping Canadians to breathe easier since 1900.  We are a non-profit, non-governmental organization that relies on donations from the public and campaigns such as Loonies for Lungs to fund our many programs and activities.  You will find The Lung Association active in your community conducting programs on asthma, COPD and sleep apnea, providing training for health professionals, delivering health education in schools, facilitating patient support groups, and lobbying for clean air.  The Lung Association is the premier source for respiratory health initiatives in the province.
