Christmas Seals are Priceless
Saskatoon, November 30th “ Christmas Seals won't save you any money at the post office if you affix them to your cards, letters, and parcels this holiday season but none-the-less they are priceless. Why? Because donations from Christmas Seals have helped Saskatchewan residents breathe a little easier since 1928!Â
Â
The money raised through Christmas Seals donations is put to careful use by The Lung Association to fund medical research into the treatment and prevention of lung disease and to fund programs and services that improve the respiratory health of our residents. One in every three people in Saskatchewan will be affected by lung disease at some point in their lives, says Brian Graham, CEO for The Lung Association.
How are some of your Christmas Seal contributions working in Saskatchewan? Donations made it possible for The Lung Association to address the scarcity of lung specialists for our children and in 1998 we recruited the only pediatric respirologist to the province, Dr. Kumar Ramlall. In the six years that Dr. Ramlall has been in Saskatchewan, he has also conducted approximately 200 continuing education sessions for Physicians in the province. On November 1, 2004 The Lung Association recruited a second pediatric respirologist, Dr. Bryce Lothian, to help in this important work.
This holiday season the Lung Association of Saskatchewan will place Christmas Seals in the mailbox of approximately 300,000 households in Saskatchewan with the goal of raising $300,000 for respiratory health.
We invite you to ˜give the gift of better breathing' to the residents of Saskatchewan by donating to Christmas Seals. Please contact us by phone at 1-888-566-LUNG, by making a secure online donation at www.sk.lung.ca/donate or by responding to our mail appeal.
The Lung Association of Saskatchewan is a member of the Canadian Lung Association, which has been working for lung health for 104 years. It is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that relies on donations from the public to fund its activities. You will find The Lung Association, the premier source for respiratory health initiatives in the province, active in your community conducting programs on asthma, COPD, sleep apnea and reduction of tobacco use, providing training for health professionals, delivering health education in schools, facilitating patient support groups and lobbying for clean air.
