NDP, Saskatchewan Parties Respond to Lung Health Questionnaires
November 1, 2007 - Saskatoon: The Lung Association of Saskatchewan today released the responses it received from the New Democratic Party of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Party, to their 2007 Lung Health Questionnaire. Both parties outlined various steps they would take to improve the health and environment of residents of Saskatchewan.
I am pleased by the responses we received from the NDP and Saskatchewan Parties, said Dr. Brian Graham, President and CEO of The Lung Association of Saskatchewan, The responses to the questionnaire outline for us that we have a very real opportunity in this province to improve the respiratory health of our residents through a broader focus on better health promotion activities and a renewed health care system. While not all topic areas were addressed in the responses, they do provide an excellent starting point for us to begin working with the next government of Saskatchewan on improving the lung health of our residents.
Following the November 7 election, The Lung Association will be seeking meetings with both the Health and Environment Ministers to further explore ways to work together on addressing the lung health priorities identified in the questionnaire. As well, the Association will offer the help and support of its experts in the development and implementation of respiratory health policies that will reduce rates of lung disease in Saskatchewan. From a provincial strategy on lung health to stronger action on outdoor and indoor air pollution, the Association looks forward to working in tandem with Saskatchewan's next government on helping our province breathe easier.
The highlights and the full responses to the questionnaire have been posted on the Association's election page, /content.cfm/2007election.
