Sask 's smoking rate highest in country

report: Large number of people ages 15 to 24 use cigarettes

REGINA -- Saskatchewan has the highest percentage of smokers in Canada, in part because of the large number of 15- to 24-year-olds who use cigarettes, according to a report released Monday.

The Canadian Tobacco Use Monitoring Survey found that 22 per cent of people in Saskatchewan smoke, compared to 19 per cent in the rest of Canada.
