By Jeff Minerd, MedPage Today Staff Writer
Hanover, N.H., Nov. 7 - Smoking in the movies -- by the actors, that is -- looks so cool that it accounts for a hefty percentage of adolescents' first puffs, researchers here said today.
For 38% of adolescents who lighted up the first time, exposure to smoking in the movies was an independent, primary risk factor, reported James D. Sargent, M.D., and colleagues at DartmouthMedicalSchool in the November 7 issue of Pediatrics.
