The number of Saskatchewan people infected with tuberculosis has spiked to its highest level in a decade, with almost all of last year's 127 victims of the potentially fatal airborne disease being First Nations people living in overcrowded reserve houses.
"This is testament to the Third World conditions we endure," said Guy Lonechild, vice-chief in charge of housing issues for the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations.
