FDA Hears Views on Rules and Regs for Pediatric Cough and Cold Medicines

With a public hearing today, the FDA gave physicians and industry groups a forum to debate the wisdom of rewriting its rules for labeling of cough and cold medicines for children.
At the all-day session, pediatricians and consumer groups called for the FDA to ban the sale of over-the-counter cough and cold medicines for young children, while industry groups maintained that the drugs are safe for use in kids under two years old.
