A Personal Message from Saskatchewan Roughrider Neal Hughes

Saskatoon, October 1st, 2012 - "Hey, Saskatchewan! There's still time to purchase your 2012 Stamp Out Asthma Raffle tickets to be in the draw on December 7. I was so honoured when The Lung Association of Saskatchewan named me as this year's raffle ambassador as this is a cause that is near and dear to my lungs. I have been affected by asthma since childhood and I understand the importance of raising funds to fight it. Proceeds from this raffle support asthma programs, educational initiatives, and vital research to find a cure so that the 100,000 people in Saskatchewan affected by asthma can breathe a little easier."

Wouldn't you like an opportunity to win the grand prize of up to $123,375 in tax-free cash? Win the second prize and you could be going on an African safari, a trip to New Zealand, or a destination of your choice. If you enjoy staying closer to home, you can always take the $10,000 cash pay-out instead. Rider Store gift cards, fish finders, and exciting electronics - we are giving away more prizes than ever! Visit www.sk.lung.ca for a complete listing of prizes and to order your tickets on-line.

Funds raised through this project will:

  • Train certified asthma educators throughout the province to provide up-to-date information and support for good asthma management.
  • Provide access to useful and practical written and on-line information to help parents of children with asthma and persons with asthma and their families manage the disease.
  • Run the Asthma Help Line for Saskatchewan residents to speak with a nationally certified asthma educator (1-888-566-LUNG).
  • Support globally-recognized researchers at the University of Saskatchewan in the study of asthma.

Asthma is a chronic lung disease which can result in breathing problems such as coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, or tightness in the chest. Asthma can develop at any age, but is most common in children. In Saskatchewan, 15% to 20% of our children have asthma. Approximately 60% of people with asthma between the ages of 18 and 54 do not have optimal control. This leaves them open to frightening and sometimes life-threatening attacks! Medication and education are currently our best tools for managing asthma while our researchers search diligently for a cure. That is why your support of the 2012 Stamp Out Asthma Raffle is so important.

To purchase your tickets, call our 24-hour toll-free Raffle Hotline at 1-866-95LOTTO (1-866-955-6886)! If you can't get through, you can also try 1-888-651-3347 during business hours.

The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority requires that the lottery license number be included in all lottery promotion. "Lottery License #LR12-0023 - intended for Saskatchewan residents only" must be quoted when promoting this raffle.
