Congratulations to Jan Neumann, VP of Professional Education at the Lung Association of SK, who received the A. Les MacPherson Award at the ASED 11 in Lake Louise on November 9.
This award is designed to recognize a health care professional who has made an outstanding contribution to respiratory care and education locally and/or internationally through their practice and/or research.
Jan has been working with the Lung Association for almost 25 years and her professional portfolio demonstrates an exceptional contribution to the management and care of lung disease for people in Saskatchewan and in Canada. Her ability to establish partnerships in industry, health regions, and government has been instrumental in the provincial and national management plan for lung disease.
Jan has contributed to the Canadian Thoracic Society's Best Practice Guidelines for the Management of COPD and has led the Lung Association's development, and implementation of RESPtrec® (Respiratory Education and Training Courses) for health care providers nationwide. These professional training courses, including AsthmaTrec, COPDTrec and SpiroTrec, are now the leading such courses in Canada, and have allowed health care providers the ability to provide gold standard patient education and care with confidence. Jan also continues to be innovative in continuing educational opportunities that provide health care professionals with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to empower people and their caregivers to optimally manage their chronic disease.
Congratulations and thank you for all your time and contributions to lung health care in our province.
