New Chair of the Volunteer Board of the Lung Association of Saskatchewan
Pat Smith of Regina was elected chairperson of the Lung Association of Saskatchewan volunteer Board of Directors on Thursday, June 19, 2014. She replaces retiring chairperson, Helen Cotton, who has moved out of province.
Pat grew up in Estevan, Sask. In 1972 she received her Pharmacy degree from the University of Saskatchewan and moved to Regina in 1973 where she still resides.
Pat began her career as a hospital pharmacist and then moved into retail pharmacy and worked for Safeway Food and Drug for 22 years. At present Pat is still a pharmacist working in physicians' offices doing spirometry testing, COPD and asthma education and smoking cessation counseling.
Pat is a Certified Respiratory Educator and has taken the RESPTREC spirometry course. She is a trainer for RESPTREC asthma and COPD programs.
Pat has 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Pat became interested in respiratory health because her family is full of asthma - sister, daughter, granddaughter and herself.
Pat is an artist working in acrylics and water colours. She loves to play bridge and Mah Jongg and spends many hours in her yard when she is not playing with her grandchildren.
The new Vice Chairperson of the volunteer board is Karen Davis of Saskatoon and the new Treasurer is Donna Crooks of Regina.
