The following program change was announced during the March 22nd Saskatchewan Budget Speech.
As of October 1, 2017, coverage for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) flow generators will no longer be universally covered in Saskatchewan. Individuals with coverage under Supplementary Health Benefits and Family Health Benefits will continue to have access to the free loan and maintenance of CPAP machines and full coverage of related supplies, such as mask, headgear, tubing, humidifier and filters.

Sleep Apnea is a common disorder in which you stop breathing while you sleep. Breathing pauses can last from a few seconds to minutes. CPAP equipment is expensive, costing up to $2,0001 and untreated sleep apnea has very serious consequences: increased risk of stroke, heart disease, diabetes, depression, cancer and death.2

Update: The Lung Association, Saskatchewan has decided to reinstate our Sleep Apnea Support Group meetings to provide a venue to support patients and their families during this program change.
