ArtWorks For Lung Health - Winners
Saskatoon, April 26, 2005 “ As is common to many non-profit health charities, the Lung Association looks for ways to express ˜thanks and appreciation' to the many donors that support our cause. Six years ago we developed the ArtWorks For Lung Health Campaign to help address this need. We invite our donors to enter a draw to win one of four beautiful pieces of art. No donation or payment of any kind was necessary to participate. This year we were privileged to have artists Robert Bateman, Val Moker, Glen Scrimshaw, and Henry Ripplinger, donate spectacular, limited edition or printers proof prints to the campaign.
Â
The ArtWorks for Lung Health draw took place at our Saskatoon regional office April 25th and here are our big winners! Regina residents Kathleen Benson and Jean Twerdachlib won limited edition prints, ˜Whistling Swan' by Robert Bateman and ˜Inspiration of the Force' by Glen Scrimshaw, Luseland resident, Bryan McKenzie won Val Moker's ˜Countries Coming Together' and Catherine Zeilner of Furdale won ˜Sharing Secrets' by Henry Ripplinger.
When asked why she supports The Lung Association, Catherine Zeilner's comment was, It is just like you say, ˜when you can't breathe, nothing else matters'. This expression is a slogan that has been used by the Lung Association for many years. In Saskatchewan, one in every three people will be affected by lung disease at some point in their lives.
You will find The Lung Association, the premier source for respiratory health initiatives in the province, active in your community conducting programs on asthma, COPD (that includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis), sleep apnea and the reduction of tobacco use, providing training for health professionals, delivering health education in schools, facilitating patient support groups, and lobbying for clean air.  We provide desperately needed dollars for cutting edge lung health research in Saskatchewan.
