Eight years ago we developed the ArtWorks For Lung Health Campaign to say a heartfelt thanks to our many patrons. Each year we invite our donors to enter a draw to win beautiful pieces of art. No donation or payment of any kind is necessary to participate in this annual campaign. This year we were privileged to have artists Yvonne Kydd, Val Moker, Glen Scrimshaw, Robert Bateman, Cyndi Tasche, and Carmen Heinrichs donate spectacular, limited edition prints to the campaign.
The ArtWorks for Lung Health draw took place at our Saskatoon regional office on April 23and here are our winners! Lafleche resident Walter Ryzak won Robert Bateman's ˜Old Willow'; Regina residents Cherry Lim and Pamela McGugan won Carmen Heinrichs ˜Colourful Company' and Val Moker's ˜Day in the Life'; Yvonne Kydd's ˜When Wheat Was King “ Indian Head in 1902 was won by Moose Jaw resident Donalda R. McRae; ˜Morning Chores' by Cyndi Tasche was won by Saskatoon resident Doreen Wolff; and J. Dean Pollard from Viceroy is the proud winner of ˜Warm and Cozy' by Glen Scrimshaw.
Lung disease touches the lives of many of our residents. In Saskatchewan, one in every three people will be affected by lung disease during their lifetime. In fact,when we asked our winners why they support the Lung Association, most stated that they have family members and close friends or neighbors that have been affected by lung disease.
You will find The Lung Association, the premier source for respiratory health initiatives in Saskatchewan, active in your community conducting programs on asthma, COPD (that includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis), sleep apnea and the reduction of tobacco use, providing training for health professionals, delivering health education in schools, facilitating patient support groups, and lobbying for clean air.
