The Lung Association of Saskatchewan at Your Door
May 25, 2010 - The Lung Association of Saskatchewan will be knocking on your door during the annual Asthma & Allergies Residential Campaign. From June 1 – 7, thousands of dedicated volunteer canvassers will hit the streets in Saskatoon, Prince Albert, North Battleford, Regina, Southey, Lumsden, Pilot Butte, Moose Jaw, Swift Current, Yorkton, and Estevan to give people an opportunity to support our important work in the area of asthma and allergies.
Asthma is a chronic lung disease characterized by difficulty in breathing and causing a combination of coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, or tightness in the chest. It can develop at any age but is more likely to begin in childhood. Asthma is the most common chronic disease in children and is a leading cause of school absenteeism. Asthma is a major cause of hospitalization and emergency room visits by children. Poor asthma control often results in time away from school, work, sports, and other activities that affect quality of life. However, through education, environmental changes, and medications, asthma can be well-controlled, thus allowing the individual to lead a full active life.
Donations from the residential campaign help fund important education programs as well as the work of world-renowned researchers at the University of Saskatchewan in the fight against asthma. When a volunteer canvasser knocks at your door, please give generously! Our canvassers can be identified by a Lung Association nametag and will be able to issue you an official receipt at the door for your donation.
If for some reason your residence is missed during the campaign, please visit our web site at www.sk.lung.ca to make your secure on-line donation or contact our Saskatoon office at 343-9511 / 1-888-566-5864 and we will be pleased to assist you. The Lung Association of Saskatchewan…improving life one breath at a time.
