Christmas Seals “ A Legacy of Hope
Saskatoon, December 21st “ As the week before Christmas draws to a close and we prepare for festivities with family and friends, the Board of Directors and staff at The Lung Association are mindful of the many blessings that have made it possible for us to serve the people of Saskatchewan with lung disease.
We are wrapping up our annual Christmas Seals Campaign and are pleased to report that we are currently at 95% of our campaign goal. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and media partners for helping to promote this campaign, we are optimistic that we will exceed $215,000.
In 1928, as the Saskatchewan Anti-Tuberculosis League, Christmas Seals proceeds were used to operate three sanatoria in the province for our residents with tuberculosis (TB). That legacy of hope continues to the present day as Christmas Seals donations assist our Association to combat both lung diseases and environmental threats to the lungs. Your donations fund medical research into the causes and cures of lung disease and conduct programs on asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), tobacco and sleep apnea in your community. The Lung Association also provides training for health professionals, delivers health education in schools, facilitates patient support groups, and lobbies for clean air.
