Saskatoon's smoking control bylaw survived suggestions that it should be weakened, with city council giving it long-awaited final approval unaltered.
Council passed a rewritten draft of the bylaw, which includes for the first time licensed private clubs, commercial patios, decks and cafes, as well as licensed premises in sports facilities, the airport, Prairieland Park and any military mess.
The law takes effect July 1.
