Adult asthmatics are twice as likely to end up in the emergency department at Christmas.
The seasonal spike discovered accidentally by a Hamilton researcher doesn't appear to affect children.
It's mysteriously hitting adults with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). People with COPD have trouble breathing, usually because of emphysema or chronic bronchitis.
